Family history
Reyna was born to Riordan and Reagan Caitrin on a Marine base, Antares, in Federation Colony 13. Her father was Vulcan, her mother Betazoid with small amounts of Minaran DNA from her half-Minaran father. When she was 1 year old, her parents were both KIA, and she was passed around between different families in the colony before being taken to Earth by a young and kind scientist, Dr. Cyzarine Ruschev. Rae’s only recollection of that time include brief snippets of her parents, but the strongest image is of Marines in dress blues taking her from her home and to the home of the base commander. Her biological grandparents expressed no interest in adoption of Rae following the death of her parents, and indicated desire to have Rae cared for by her godmother or adopted by Federation citizens.
Once reaching Earth, Cyzarine went to work for Starfleet Medical's research branch, and Rae (as she prefers to be called) was officially adopted by a couple, Richard and Emyline Waters from London, United Kingdom, European Union; Cyzarine felt she was too young to care for the girl, even though she'd been named the girl's godmother. Rae was raised by them, though she rebelled at an early age against their expectations of her. (Rae's adoptive mother is Betazoid, and her father, Human; one reason they chose to adopt Rae, as they were unsure they could have children of their own.) The Waters added the name ‘Aurelea’ to Rae’s name as a first name, as well as their last name of ‘Waters’. Rae rebelled against this as a teenager, and continues to go by her nickname of ‘Rae’, though her mother refers to her often as ‘Lea’. They maintain a close relationship.
Rae was involved in many academic and extracurricular pursuits. She began training in gymnastics and horseback riding at the age of 5. She pushed herself and progressed quickly, becoming a champion in horseback riding and gymnastics. She took up fencing, beginning at the age of 9, under instruction of her adoptive father, as well as began training in some martial art forms.
Rae competed with Starfleet Academy teams in various sports, due to her high level of physical fitness; her favorite was always fencing. She was recruited by the Marine Academy for a transfer during her second year at Starfleet Academy, and accepted with intent to pursue a career in the Starfleet Marines like her biological parents. She went to work as a Marine officer-pilot in a Fighter Squadron following graduation, staying there as a pilot for a total of 18 months before being moved to work for Starfleet's Intelligence unit, becoming a member of their assault force. She helped them rebuild after the end of the Dominion War, and became highly trained in strategy and reconnaissance as a result.
Her SFI term was short, but left her well-trained, and she was sent on a secretive joint mission with a new Cardassian Intelligence unit established by their government. This mission involved the exchanging of officers, in a mutual training program. Rae gained much from this intended-twenty four month stay in Cardassian space, though at the supposed termination of the program, the transport never made it into Cardassian space. As a result, she spent another year with the Cardassians, becoming an honorary member of their intelligence unit, as SF had seemingly abandoned the group. But, a year and several excuses later, Rae's team was on their way home, and they refused to speak of their extra year on Cardassia. Rae was one of four, out of the original eight selected, who returned from Cardassian space alive. She is the only one who remains on active duty. One another has sense committed suicide, and the other two maintain civilian careers.
In addition to her physical training, Rae was also highly trained mentally. As a result, her mind can be very intense and highly focused- as well as very well guarded. She is able to speak telepathically, with or without physical contact, and she is empathic. Due to her strong Vulcan heritage, she meditates regularly and at times struggles to control her temper and violent impulses.
Rae is married to Geoffery Tomasek, retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant and SFI Field Agent. She was investigated for conduct unbecoming an officer when it was discovered that she and Tomasek secretly married following her return from Cardassia, due to Tomasek’s enlisted position and Rae as an officer. Charges were subsequently dropped following an inquiry.
Rae and Geoff adopted two children rescued from a pirate base that was infiltrated and subsequently destroyed by one of Rae’s joint Intelligence-Marine teams. Rae led the team, and after the children were brought back to Denali station, then shipped away for the war with the Gorn, the couple decided to adopt them, and currently the girls are under official guardianship of Rae and Geoff. Their legal godmother is Lieutenant Commander Eleanore Juarez, Executive Officer on Denali Station. While on temporary assignment to Earth, Rae and Geoff had a biological daughter, Kemery Reagan Tomasek. Due to their genetic differences, significant medical intervention was required, and the child remains under close scrutiny by pediatricians on Denali and from Starfleet Medical.
Education
Rae graduated Valedictorian from secondary school, and remained out of school the year before she was accepted into the Academy. At the Marine Academy, she majored in Reconaissance and Strategy, with a minor in languages. She was trained as a fighter pilot following graduation, before she merged into Starfleet Intelligence. She maintains active fluency in several languages, to include: Federation Standard and various Earth languages, Cardassian, Romulan. She is partially fluent in Vulcan, Orion, Bajoran, and Klingon. She maintains many certifications, and was trained as a fighter pilot and later as a sniper by Starfleet Marines and Starfleet Intelligence, respectively.
In her current role, she maintains strategic planning for the sector’s SFI work, and assists with information analysis.
Medical profile
Rae is prone to migraines in times of high stress, and has been known to push herself to the brink of physical illness in order to accomplish a task or reach a goal. She is allergic to some plants and pollen, specifically Terran varieties. This allergy is an inconvenience and not considered life-threatening. She was granted a waiver by Starfleet.
Otherwise, she is in superb physical condition; well-muscled and evenly built into her 5' 10" (1.828 m) frame. She has broken several bones and ribs in her time, though all received medical attention for healing at some point. Her eyesight is excellent, as well as her reaction/reflex times, which she maintains with active training in martial arts.
She is reportedly a bit under weight, her lowest weight having been 120 lbs. (54.43 kg). After being grounded until she reached a 'healthy' weight for her height, it was discovered that she had Kelan's syndrome: a rare genetic defect which causes the metabolic rate of her body to at times speed up, not allowing her the necessary calories to maintain her proper body weight or maintain the level of physical activity she has on a daily basis. This can cause problems for her, but with regular checks on this syndrome, it can be controlled. Her metabolism is naturally higher and processes faster, so care must be taken to keep her sedated or use anesthesia with her; her body metabolizes most medications extremely quickly and as a result, she has woken up during surgery on multiple occasions. This has led to a resistance to surgery under a doctor not accustomed to her physiology. *It has been hypothesized that this defect, though very, very rare, occured in her due to her triple-hybrid background, despite only small amounts of Minaran DNA.*
She developed an ulcer while on Denali Station, which was reversed with surgery and medication. Rae is also a former alcoholic, with five years of sobriety to date.
During her time on Earth, Rae became pregnant and carried the infant nearly to term. Significant medical intervention was required, to include genetic stabilization of the infant for it to survive. She was placed on bed rest for the majority of the pregnancy, with near-continuous checks of her blood glucose levels and IV nutrition required for the last couple of months. Following a dramatic rise in Rae's blood pressure and overall decline in her health, the infant was surgically delivered. Both survived, and were stabilized over the next couple of weeks.
Other
Left-handed; One tattoo of a dragon on her right shoulder, a tattoo of the SF Marine Corps logo on her left shoulder; tall and slender, but muscular.

The website and the ODN are no longer separate entities. No jumping from one site to the other to get information. We have added to our technological distinctiveness to become one. The process of rebuilding the front-end is still ongoing. Making "a" website... that's easy. Making a website that uses all our content over decades... that's hard.
