Family history
Daniel Jannar is a focused, and intelligent young man.
He seems quite reserved to some, but this is because of his upbringing, his cardassian heritage (and the
stigma it sometimes attracts), and the fact that Dan prefers to listen, and only then make a comment (if a comment is needed at all!). He is an active young man, and although he seems untalkative, or shy in public.
He is actually an erudite and witty public speaker, and has a passion (and aptitude) for dramatics. The guy knows how to have fun, you just need to get to know him!
His humour is dry and witty. His looks are bold and striking. He prefers to have his hair styled in a more human way, as to soften his cardassian bone structure. His bright, keen eyes form a distinct contrast to his dark hair. He has only had one relationship, in his first year at the academy, he became involved with another first year Cadet called Erin Williams. The two are extremely compatible. But Dan's fixation on his career and his father's disappearance seemed too much
like an obsession to Erin, who broke off the relationship before she became hurt. They both regret it not working out, but keep in touch as much as
possible. Erin is about to Graduate at the same time as Dan, but is destined to be posted elsewhere, as her
speciality in bio-neural mechanics makes her a prized commodity in Starfleet Engineering.
Dan's life remains focused towards serving Starfleet and the Federation as best he can, but his Fathers disappearance is always at the back of his mind: Gul Jannar was part of the Cardassian war machine. He was seconded to work for the Obsidian Order. His speciality was counter intelligence, and the Obsidian
Order used this talent to further their efforts during the first Federation-Cardassian War. Jannar was by no means an evil man, and saw his work as safeguarding his own people (even though his superiors would often
use his findings for more nefarious purposes). When the fragile truce between the warring parties was
signed, Jannar (now promoted to Gul of the counter intelligence section) was sent to Earth as part of a good-will exchange programme. While on Earth the Gul took the time to visit many of the historical sights of the planet. While on a visit to see Stonehenge in England, Jannar met a young woman named Sally Turner.
Sally was the successful owner of some traditional country restaurants in England. She and the Gul immediately took to each other, despite the reaction some locals would give to the Cardassian. During the Gul's extended stay, he often visited Sally, and the
two became very close. So much so that Jannar and Sally fell in love. Determined to keep the relationship together, Jannar requested asylum when
his expedition was recalled to Cardassia. It was not accepted unconditionally. Starfleet Intelligence
de-briefed the Obsidian Order agent for months upon months, trying to get as much information as possible.
Jannar was at first reluctant to cooperate. But his time on Earth had taught him that The Federation was a
peaceful society, and so he gave his allegiance to them, with the belief that if another war could be
averted, then it was in his people's best interests.
Jannar was inducted into Starfleet Intelligence.
In time they had a son, Daniel. Showing
characteristics of both parents, the boy was not widely accepted at first. When the Dominion War broke out, Starfleet Intelligence concocted an elaborate ruse to secrete Jannar back into the Obsidian Order as a mole. Jannar left his family, (his son now in the Academy himself) and set on this perilous mission. With the machinations of Starfleet Intelligence
working well, the 'sleeper agent' ploy seemed to have worked. Starfleet was receiving a small, but important
stream of intelligence at regular intervals. That was, however, until the Cardassian uprisings against the
Dominion. All data traffic stopped. Starfleet Intelligence does not know what has happened to their agent. Was he turned? Was he killed while orchestrating the resistance? All is unknown. Sally must now live in constant fear, and hope, to find out
what has happened to her husband.

Education
Dan Jannar attended local schools, until he was old enough to enter Starfleet
Academy. He excelled at linguistics, close quarter tactics, multi-band subspace communications, advanced
photonic telemetry, and was also a keen member of the Drama Society! He has interest in his Father's field
of Counter-Intelligence, and always tried to sign up for the extra curricular modules at the academy
dealing with intelligence issues and special operation away team missions. Starfleet Intelligence have had
their eye on him since his time at the Academy (because of his father), and many believe the young cadet has a genuine aptitude for the discipline,
though his reasons may be conflicted - it seems he wants the ability and knowledge to find his father, one way or another.

Medical profile
Has the bone structure of his
cardassian father, but largely his internal organs are human-analogous. His digestive tract seems to be very
complex, assimilating the best features of both species.
