The Freeman family has a long history of Starfleet service, dating back to the earliest days of the Federation. Family lore points to the military tradition dating back significantly longer than that, even.
Scott Freeman IV, was born in Boston, though saw little of it, as the son of a Starfleet officer. His relations with his father, particularly after his mother's death, became strained, and it has been over two years, sine he last spoke to the elder, now Captain, Freeman.
