Family history
Saleh Hakim was born into a family of scholars and academics who mainly joined the UFP’s secretariat. As administrators and analysts within the complex workings of a political environment, Saleh’s family members excelled in their fields, keeping records straight, and doing research on current events in order to keep the representatives well informed. Another specialty among the family was one of linguistics. Within the UFP, a few of the family served as linguistic specialists to perfect the universal translator, and to update it whenever new languages and dialects were discovered.
Saleh and his sister both chose slightly different paths from the normal family tradition of administrative roles in the UFP. His sister went on to become a leading researcher on pre-warp civilizations and served a leading researcher on many planet based studies in hidden bases to observe the cultures without intruding. She is currently a professor at the Vulcan Science Academy teaching Xeno-Cultural Anthropology, which is an honour because few humans are allowed to teach at the academy.

His degree in political science, with a special focus in interstellar relations made him an idea candidate for intelligence work. He had been offered the post at both UFP Intelligence and Starfleet Intelligence. He decided that military intelligence was not the road for him and so he took up the UFP’s offer. Saleh was the first member of his family to take up the intelligence field. Currently Saleh is one of the leading field agents in the bureau, and continues to take on field operations leading younger team members and teaching them the fine art of field intelligence.

Medical profile
Saleh’s health has always been robust, but in his many years in the field he has suffered a great deal of injuries, disease, torture, and near death experiences. Physically because he keeps in excellent shape he managed to recover from all these traumas, but some of them made lasting impressions on him mentally, especially during the Dominion War where he was captured by the Cardassians while performing code breaking, and counter-intelligence on Cardassia Prime its self. It was a full month before Starfleet special forces managed to rescue him in a near dead state. It took him almost six months of recovery to make it back to active service. On many occasions he has come in contact with viral and bacterial contagions in his line of work by sheer exposure to foreign climates. To top his list of illnesses contracted, Saleh has had three attempts made on his life by other intelligence agencies, including one particularly effective poisoning by a possible Tal Shiar operative. The assassin was never confirmed nor apprehended, and Saleh barely survived the ordeal. It was only by chance that the local doctor on the planet knew of a special antidote for the poison used, which could only be found on that particular planet.
Currently Saleh is in prime physical shape for a man of his age, and he continues to beat his younger operatives in most exercises and martial arts.
