Family history
David Hawkins grew up the son of a merchant. His father, Eric, was in and out of jail more than he was in and out of a decent deal. For this reason, it was fairly safe to say he was not close to his son. His mother, Lisa, however, was the opposite. Working with Starfleet Medical, she was able to secure herself a planetary assignment on Mars from where she could continue her research and still devote the time required to care for her children. She caried on the traditions of her own family, in spite of having left them when she married Eric. For this reason, she was not only a devoted mother, but a good cook--something she would later impress upon her own children. She would often tell stories of how her grandparents were very much the experts of the family when it came to the making of whines, though many have chosen to follow in their footsteps.
When David was old enough, he left the family home on Mars in search of his own place amongst the stars. He attended Starfleet Academy, where he met his future wife Melissa. Majoring in operations while Melissa majored in psychology, it became less and less possible for the two to spend time with one another. While both had begun to accept the fact that they very likely would not serve on the same ship, they agreed to continue their relationship after graduation regardless.
After 5 years of varying assignments with varying degrees of importance, David and Melissa finally found themselves assigned to the USS Idaho, under the command of then captain Maura Mckenzy. It was on that very ship that both officers, having reached the rank of lieutenant and lieutenant commander (David having achieved the latter), that the two decided to start a family.
The Hawkins officers submitted leaves of absence, returning to Mars in time to hear of David's mother's deteriorating health. On stardate 7901.21, Lisa Hawkins Passed away and left the family estate in the custody of David. His father, having been arrested roughly 2 years earlier, was in no legal position to have contested her last wishes. On stardate 7906.28, the couple's first and only child was born.
Jason grew up not in the least sheltered from the realities of life. Having seen the reports on dominion casualties, and having a father who, after things had calmed down, had returned to starfleet, he found he was often aware of things that, in some cases, his mother perhaps did not approve of him knowing. However, it was well established in the family that nothing should go without having been discovered--the nature of exploring every possible avenue having been trained into them by their service to Starfleet, so Jason's curiosity was not hindered. When he turned 18, he graduated from highschool and had then asked his fiance, Katie Masters, to marry him. At age 19, he joined the academy, much to his parents' approval and Katie's dismay. A year later, their first and only child, Casandra was born. However, times were not often easy for the beginning family. Katie, being one without much faith in Starfleet, had said on many occasions that, were Jason to leave her to take an assignment in the field, it would ultimately end their marriage. His decision to then accept an assignment at Starbase 51, while not entirely embraced by Katie, was considered more appropriate than an assignment to a ship.
After a year of this assignment, it was obviously beginning to get to the two of them--Katie becoming restless and Jason looking for alternative assignments. It came to her as little surprise, then, when Jason had told her of his approved transfer to the USS Themisto. It came to him as little surprise when she reacted by packing her and Casandra's belongings, returning to Earth, and promptly filing for divorce. To this day, while the two have not spoken, he's still attempting to regain custody of his child.

Education
Graduated highschool on Mars, and attended Starfleet academy, majoring in tactical and minoring in operations. Recruited by SFI as a strategic operations specialist, and currently serving in a limited capacity, although his reassignment from the Themisto upon her return to Denali after encountering the Gorn for a second time may give reason for an increase in his activity.
Medical profile
A few broken bones as expected after surviving a conflict as dangerous as a confrontation with the Gorn, but nothing more.
Other
Thin build, with his hair usually kept short, often just above the base of his neck.
