Family history
Her parents were explorers, but individuals in the carrying out of such exploration. Instead of joining the federation, they bought a transport vessel, and equipped it as their home. Rie was born on the said vessel, and remained there, being taught by experience and her parents until, when she was 12, her parents were murdered by pirates. A Starfleet vessel found her in the ship the next day, her parents' dead bodies still in as they were left.

She was set up at the Academy when it was discovered that she had no next of kin to look after her.
Education
She was not an apparant good student at the academy due to her mindset initiated by her previous lifestyle and parenting, but ended up surprising everyone: her fellow students; her lecturers; even herself, by dedicating herself in the final year, and coming out with top honours. She continued in a research position at the academy until she realised that her true wish was to be on a ship, to be an explorer like her parents. It is in this new frame of mind that she joins her first vessel.
Medical profile
At her last medical, she had a clean bill of health. She has had all the traditional childhood illnesses, and has no apparent health worries that she is aware of.

"Assimilation is complete..."

The website and the ODN are no longer separate entities. No jumping from one site to the other to get information. We have added to our technological distinctiveness to become one. The process of rebuilding the front-end is still ongoing. Making "a" website... that's easy. Making a website that uses all our content over decades... that's hard.
