Family history
Alexandra was born into a family rich in military history. They can trace family members as being soldiers in every major conflict on earth since the Civil War. The love of military is something that has been passed down through the generations. Alexandra was no different.
Growing up between Starships and Earth, she dreamed of entering the Academy from a young age. She took the entrance exam the day after her 16th birthday. Little did she know that this love would permanently change her life. As an Ensign and Tactical Officer on board the USS Searcher, she met and fell in love with a young scientist. Ensign Chris Long proposed nearly 2 years after they had met. The two were married and served happily
together until the Dominion War. The need for officers separated the now full
Lieutenants.
Ali, due to her tactical training, was ordered on a special mission to gain information on the Cardassian forces along with her Captain and another Tactical Officer. Their cover was blown when TO McTavish was killed. She and Captain Sordek were captured. She lost track of time during the extensive
interrogations. Alexandra remembers waking up on the cell floor as the Cardassians dumped her Captain in beside her. Although Sordek was Vulcan, the torture had proven too much for his body. Moments before he died, he gathered the strength to mind meld with the young Lieutenant, leaving his katra within her mind. When Alexandra was finally rescued by a Special Ops team on Cardassia, it was discovered
that she had retained Sordek's katra for 14 of her 19 week imprisonment.
After being aided in releasing Sordek's katra, Alexandra was taken home to Earth to recover. It was there she learned that her husband had also been killed while she was a POW. She returned to duty several months later, working primarily with Star Fleet Intelligence. On 10103.18 she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and
returned to Star Ship duty. She served as the Executive Officer on the USS Shasta for one year before being given the USS Columbia to command.

Education
Normal childhood education but took extra credit classes in defensive strategy. Remained in Star Fleet Academy for an extra year in order to gain more knowledge in tactical strategy and battle scenarios.
While in Command training, she tested on the Kobiyashi Maru 3 separate times. Her professors seemed pleased with the results but Alexandra has been quoted as saying, "I still don't believe in the no win scenario and I never will. There must be a way to win." She was trained in stealth and undercover strategies during her tenure at Star Fleet Intelligence.

Medical profile
Due to the length of time she retained Captain Sordek's katra, she still has an imprint of his katra on the telepathic area of her brain. While this imprint does not give her telepathic ability, she has been known to show some empathic ability at times. Also, she has reported receiving mental impressions of the Captain when facing difficult decisions. She has been thoroughly examined by Star Fleet Medical and Counselors in regards to this. It has been determined that the impressions are what is left of the bond shared by carrying the katra for such an extended period of time. She has been deemed mentally, physically, and psychologically fit.

Scars on her body from being interrogated as a Dominion war POW. She refused to have them healed after her release.
